Masculine Energy Patch plays with the idea of a girl gang and the masculine associations of biker gangs. We wanted to create a patch showing belonging and solidarity that was at the same time unashamedly antagonistic in its femininity-- even intimidatingly so.

Evoking the feminine ideals created by merit-based organizations like the Girl Scouts and status objects like trading cards, we wanted instead to realize our own ideals and validate a more individualistic, contemporary femininity.

This realizes the strength in setting one's own standard (with undeniable links to ideals of the past) and the groups to which females align and compare themselves.

This piece appeares in the ReVision Arts show Vouyerism.

Rosas Danst Beyonce explores ideas of repetition, homage and their affect on meaning. Beyonce's recent video for Countdown showed her performing a dance by Belgian artist Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. We wanted to reclaim this piece, while paying homage to both powerful and influential women. We want to question what becomes of a piece when thrice removed from the original, while acknowledging both.

The video mimics the myriad of videos on youtube of girls copying Beyonce music video. We are fascinated by this genre of amateur videos in which people willingly submit themselves to an audience, whether real or imaginary. We want our piece to explore the strange tension between voyeur and exhibitionist, both complicit in the act of viewing and showing. In this instance, we copy form the original Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker dance, Rosas Danst Rosas while setting it to Beyonce's Countdown.

Rage Fest aims to celebrate anger, and bring lightness to it. We realize that anger is a great motivator, and showcase the fact that anger means we care and are passionate about something. The negative is turned into something that instead brings people together. There is plenty for us to rage about so why not take that and make it fun and productive?
